Be an Effective email writer.

Possibly your email shouldn’t be perfect. Instead, make it helpful. You see if your email is ideal. It might not feel real and personal. When you write an email to a friend, it’s likely not to be accurate because when you write an email to a friend, you use informal language. So if you are writing an email for your business, to your tribe or list, it needn’t be perfect, either.

Preferably, focus on making the email resonate with the reader. Give the reader actionable advice they can learn from; they can complete. Think of writing the email to one person, perhaps a friend, then send it to your list. Write one email a day, and you’ll get better fast!

Email Writing Step by Step

Here the subject line is the first thing your recipients will see, which is why it’s fundamental to get it right.

Here are some example subject lines that might get your email opened:

● Quick question

● Hi {First Name}

● So, you do [skill]?

● Who is in charge of [role] at [company]?

Keep your subject lines short, appropriate, and use them to provoke interest to get the email opened.

Get to the straight point

Thanks to a high subject line, your email got opened. What’s next?

Your recipients should be able to understand why you’re writing quickly. If there are too many words, complicated sentences, and overall too much content in your emails, make sure you talk about the straight point, no redundant writings, people will get tired before they read it all. So keep it short and crisp.

QUICK TIPS

EMAIL WRITING TEST

Here are some quick tips for Email Writing

1) Keep it short & crisp

If you can keep an email to less than 2 or 3 sentences, it’s much easier to read it right then. If your email is longer than a paragraph, people will usually put off reading it, and it will probably take you longer to get a response. Follow “no scroll” rule, which simply means if you can connect and compact your message that reader can view in just one screen, that’s perfect.

2) Format for readability and clarity

It’s more comfortable to read emails that are broken down into one or two sentences per paragraph than long paragraphs. If you need to emphasize, do not shy of using Bold/Italics of colored background.

3) Connection plays a significant role

Nothing drives people crazier than an email where someone sends over a lot of information but doesn’t say what they’d like you to do. I often respond to those immediately by asking: What do you want me to do?

Do you want me to introduce you to someone? Do you want me to read your blog post and give you feedback? Do you want me to respond with whether I’ll be able to attend an event? Be clear and say it explicitly upfront.

4) Be reasonable with your request

It’s so easy these days to send off an email in 30 seconds that would take someone over an hour to respond.

Please don’t expect the reader to do the work to figure out what you want them to do. I consider that lazy. Don’t ask, “What do you think we could do to get more customers?”

5) Maintain Positivity entirely in the message

No matter whether you are angry, frustrated, or disturbed, ensure that your communication is always positive and solution-oriented. Avoid personal attacks, filthy language.
