NOTICE WRITING

Notice writing is not challenging for people because we learn to notice writing from 4th standards. How to write notice writing? What is notice writing? But sometimes we forgot the Format and critical points of notice writing.

Notice writing is well-known in schools until 10th grade. But students are sometimes confused about the Format of a Notice. Without any delay, here is a format which will clear everything..

Take a look at the Format above. It shows how to write a Notice in school.

  1. Start with your school name at the top. Use capital letter only.
  2. Then write NOTICE in the next line. You can also leave a range. It is your choice.
  3. Write the date on the left side.
  4. Underneath, write the heading.
  5. Write the body of Notice informing the readers about the time and venue of the function.
  6. Write your name and designation on the left side.
  7. Put the Notice in a square.

This is the Format of writing a Notice. There can be discrepancies in this and what you have been taught in your school. Teachers have different ideas. Sometimes teachers from the same school also follow different rules. The best way is to confirm the Format. Ask your teacher because they are the one checking the answer sheets.

Format of Notice does not change with advancing classes. for (XII)

Though, you need to know it is one of the simplest ways to score four marks in English. So let’s go stepwise.

  1. First of all, start with a box. If you miss this, u lose a mark. I suggest you draw a box for everything in the writing section. Better be safe.
  2. On the first line, write the name of the institution and address in the centre in capital letters.
  3. Leave a line and write the word notice in capital letters in the centre.
  4. Leave a line and write the date on the left side.
  5. In the next line, write the heading or topic in regular letters.
  6. Then start your Notice. Mind it to be straight forward and informational. See that you have supplied all the necessary information. Should not take more than five lines. 6 at the max. End with “for more information, contact.”
  7. Leave a line and write your full name as a signature under it your designation.

IMPROVE WRITING

Write more and more & read it back to yourself and others sometimes, loudly. And read the work of others who you admire. And don’t let anything get in the way of your process. Don’t go telling everyone who will listen (including yourself) that you are a writer with writer’s block.

Make the above a habit; do it for a specific part of every day. Try to write when you feel fresh and rested, but if you haven’t written yet that day, write when you are tired. Get everything you want to say written. You can always and will always fix what doesn’t work. Fiddle around to get just the right word, the best phrase. Be respectful of the rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation, but mess with them when it feels correct and impactful to do so.

Write when you are down; write when you are up. A habit is a hard thing to break.

Don’t expect smooth success. Don’t beat yourself up when you learn that writing is a talent you develop, not a gift of birth. If you haven’t heard the phrase “you have to write a million words before you find your voice as a writer”. If you love it, never give it up. But do NOT expect it to love you back, or even to buy you a hamburger.

Writing is a kind of art because different ideas are needed every time, and we get this skill by reading and understanding newspapers daily and different type of novels and books and understanding very well. This will assist you in learning different words and unique ideas. Also, this will help to increase your thinking power which will further lead to new ideas.

This process takes time because you have to read so much stuff so that you will be able to create your ideas.

Also, try to write on different subjects on your own because it will develop your thinking. Don’t think about anything when you are writing on a particular subject; only think about that specific subject because consistency is essential for writing a topic.

The process for thinking can be like this, for instance, if you want to write on corruption, then create questions in your mind that how it emerged, how is crime increasing day by day, what measures can we take to reduce it, etc. These questions will help you to write about a particular subject.

TIPS FOR WRITING

NOTICE WRITING

Here are tips for improving your writing skills:

  1. Read in the genre that speaks to you the most. If you were a classical violinist, you would see orchestras and listen to a recording of other classical violinists and study their techniques. Writing demands the same – consider other writers, find a style you like and seek that style out in the literature.
  2. The show, Don’t Tell – New writers tend to over narrate. Showing us a scene instead of telling us brings the scene alive. Imagine you are writing a script and describing a scene. For instance, relating would be:

(Narration) The girl was scared to walk in the house and wake up her parents because she was coming in past curfew and knew her mother would be angry if she woke her up.

(Show) Sally took her shoes off at the front door and decided instead to walk around to the back door because it opened without squeaking(soundless) and wouldn’t wake up her mother. She quietly slid(closing) the back door open and walked through the kitchen on her bare toes, tripping over a planter near the hallway entrance. A light went on, and a woman’s voice called out, “Sally is that you late again?”

If you practice showing versus telling, your writing will improve through this practice.

  1. Avoid over usage – All writers use cliche’s at times, so don’t worry when they show up in your work. A cliche is “He looked at her and said “Money doesn’t grow on trees” When you see a cliche show up in your writing, I suggest authors take out the cliche and write what you meant to say. For example, take out “money doesn’t grow on trees” and replace it with – He looked at her and said, “Didn’t we talk about your spending?” He was holding up her master card, all three pages of it, listing clothing, makeup and handbags, all the things she was hiding in her closet and hoping her father wouldn’t find.

Another way to fix a cliche is just to take it out.
