The following steps are going to help you with memorizing things in a better way.

1- Write while reading or make notes of whatever you read and revise it during a week.

2- If you’re studying at residence and all of a sudden your relations started talking I know It would distract you; then you get irritated you make sure that to read the thing loud and clear so that all of your concentration remains thereon.

3- After studying a chapter, take your test. That will help you know where you missed the point.

4- You can use the ferryman technique which says to read a topic and then write about it on a piece of paper explain it to yourself and try to remember all features with referring your book.

If you want to memorize things well, you need to follow these steps, and it will change your life.

Well, every individual has their level of skills, whether they are reading or memorizing. If you can’t remember, don’t worry because there will always be a solution to any problem. There are a lot of methods that people use to remember things. Yes, mugging up too is one of them, but I wouldn’t consider it to be a useful and fruitful approach.

Simplest and easiest way to memorize things is by patterning the data one wants to store in his memory for the long run. By patterning, I mean to say that relate the things that you want to remember with something that you know very well and. This technique efficiently helps to memorize stuff for the long run and even increases mental ability.

If this method doesn’t go your way then, maybe you need to get it marked into your mind. The process of stamping can be done by using pluck cards or sticky notes where you can take down things that you can’t remember and whenever feasible, give it a look.

This will lastingly print the data in your subconscious brain, and there is no way that you forget it unless you are a memory loss person. This method some of you might have used while preparing for your GRE, IELTS, TOEFL where you have to remember parts of words to build up your vocabulary before you tackle the exam.

Lastly, I would say out of all this is the best technique to be used. Usually, we tend not to remember things that we hate the foremost. But, something that you like, you never manage to forget it. The same idea of liking can be utilized to remembering. Because, if you read something with complete interest, you tend to digest the maximum part of the information that you read through, so if you don’t like something that you read. But if an effort of interest is applied while reading than the results can be fruitful.

Take hand-written, summarized notes. Something about physically writing the letters burns the concepts into your brain—ditto for paraphrasing. The goal is to record the ideas into your brain in as many ways as possible. Listen to the professor. Summarize the thoughts in your mind. Physically write them down. See the notes on your page. Your memories will be vastly more precious than someone who runs a highlighter across some keywords in their book.

Don’t study with the bright ones; teach the weaker ones. It sounds counter-intuitive(something that goes against common sense), but your best bet is to pair up with the struggling students in the class. Why? You’ll have the possibility to teach them, and take it from me; you can’t claim to understand a concept until you can explain it to someone else. So find someone who needs help, helps them, and you’ll be helping yourself most of all.

I’m so sorry to add this as I know we all hate to review, but seriously, it’s the single best hack out there for memorization. Spaced-repetition is best, which means you frequently consider at first, and less often after that. You don’t even need a lot of time, just quick reviews daily at first and weekly later will keep it all fresh and ready to be remembered on test day.

Make it enjoyable: We remember things that elicit a strong emotional response. So laugh it up with your friends, make jokes about the materials, and anything else that makes the study process more enjoyable.

If your studying method is remembering, examining and mastering what is in the books, then you are doing it wrong. It is a very tiring and unproductive approach. That is why you get annoyed after a while.

It would help if you studied to understand. This involves developing a sense of direction in studies by combining a reflection step at the end of each study session to check your understanding of each topic.

This then enables you to study to understand, which provides for reliable memories, instead of studying to remember.

Considering you are still in school (though it can be applicable in college), this is what I will suggest you do.

  1. Take one hour each school day (ideally the hour before you go to bed) to revise what you have learned in class for that particular day.
  2. This includes writing some short notes of what you know and what you still need to learn from today’s lessons.
  3. In the final five minutes of that one-hour revision session, you do a study on what you have learned in all your lesson today. This meaning is making a summary of what you have learned today and what you still need to learn or not sure or seek help from the teacher on the next day.
  4. By revising, you get a clear idea of what you know and don’t know which then gives you direction on what you need to learn in school. This will naturally give you a sense of purpose in school/university and studying as well as keeping you engaged in class. So, you will usually have the motivation to keep learning and studying.

During weekends, allot two or 4-hour study session, with a 15 minutes break in between, on each weekend for a study session. The perfect time to do this is in the morning. When you just had your breakfast. In the last 15 minutes of each study session, you also revise what you have learned and what you still need to improve on.

This will give you a sense of direction(clear about your ideas or way) on what you still need to learn in class for the next week. If you repeat this step, you will understand that you are studying more efficiently by regularly focus on development. You may add one more study session on a full day if you do not have anything else to do.

Finally, here are a few points which I need you all to know.

  • “Never read without a pencil. Use pencil at any cost
  • Mark the sentences, you find confusing, unusual, or necessary.
  • Intelligent Scanning
  • Before beginning to read a book, browse through the index, contents page, preface, and inside the jacket to get an idea of the subject matter.
  • You’ll need to browse the text for relevant topics and keyword only.
  • Readout aloud
  • Read with an intention.
  • Be careful in highlighting and note-taking.
  • Fast reading isn’t worth studying. Slow and study win the race
  • Stay within your concentration span and work to increase that span.
  • Revise more and more
